LokalPix decodes the AVIF using browser functions and encodes the visible image as JPG. Transparency is placed on a white background during JPG export.
AVIF uses the AV1 codec for still images and achieves smaller files than JPG at similar quality. It supports transparency and HDR.
JPG is accepted by nearly all image editors, upload forms, and print services. The adjustable quality controls file size and visible artefacts.
JPG does not support transparency. Transparent or semi-transparent areas are placed on a white background.
