LokalPix decodes the first frame of the GIF and encodes it as lossy JPG. Transparency and animation are lost.
GIF stores up to 256 colours from a palette and supports frame animations. Transparency is possible as a simple on/off flag.
JPG encodes photographs with lossy compression and produces significantly smaller files than GIF. It supports full 24-bit RGB colour depth but no transparency or animation.
LokalPix exports only the first frame of the GIF as JPG. All other frames, timing data, and transparency are lost.
Technical background on GIF-to-JPG conversion.
GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) uses LZW compression and an indexed colour palette with up to 256 colours. Animations consist of multiple frames with configurable delays.
JPG supports full 24-bit colour depth and produces smaller files than GIF for photographs and natural images. For upload forms that do not accept GIF, JPG is the practical choice.
GIF supports simple 1-bit transparency: pixels are either fully transparent or fully opaque. JPG does not support transparency — transparent pixels receive a white background during export.
GIF animations are not exported. Only the first frame is saved as JPG. Transparency, timing data, and additional frames are all lost.

Yes. LokalPix does not intentionally change the pixel dimensions during this conversion.
90 percent is a practical starting point. A lower value may be sufficient for smaller files.
Yes. Up to 20 files can be processed in one batch and downloaded individually or together as a ZIP archive.
