Convert HEIC and HEIF images into losslessly compressed PNG files directly in your browser. libheif is loaded locally for decoding — no image upload takes place.

The local libheif library decodes the image; PNG then stores the pixels losslessly.

PNG is preset as the output format and does not need a quality slider.
Download results individually or collect multiple files in a ZIP archive.
LokalPix loads libheif locally and decodes the image in your browser. The result is then stored losslessly as PNG.
HEIC uses the HEVC video codec for still images and achieves smaller files than JPG at comparable quality. HEIF is the container standard; HEIC is the Apple-specific variant.
PNG stores the decoded pixels without further loss and is supported almost everywhere — in image editors, documents, and upload forms.
PNG cannot recover detail removed by HEVC compression. Conversion only changes the file format of the existing pixels.
Technical background on decoding and format choice.
HEIC uses the HEVC codec (H.265) for still images. The HEIF container can store multiple images, depth data, and metadata in one file. Lossy compression achieves smaller files than JPEG.
LokalPix downloads libheif as a WebAssembly bundle locally. The HEIC image is decoded entirely in your browser; no pixel content leaves your device.
PNG is more broadly compatible than HEIC and is accepted by most applications and upload forms. It preserves all visible image content losslessly.
Earlier HEVC losses remain; PNG cannot repair them. HEIC-specific metadata, depth data, and embedded previews are not transferred by default.
Answers about quality, privacy, and format limitations.
Yes. LokalPix downloads libheif locally and decodes the image exclusively in your browser. There is no image upload.
No. PNG stores the pixels decoded from the HEIC losslessly, but it cannot recover detail removed by HEVC compression.
PNG is lossless and is usually larger than HEIC for photographs. Larger does not automatically mean more image detail.
Yes. LokalPix does not intentionally change the pixel dimensions during this conversion.
Metadata are removed by default. HEIC-specific EXIF and XMP data are not transferred to the PNG file.
Yes. Up to 20 files can be processed in one batch and downloaded individually or together as a ZIP archive.
Decoding uses the locally loaded libheif library. There is no image upload and no cloud storage.
