Convert WebP images into losslessly compressed PNG files directly in your browser. PNG preserves transparency and is more widely compatible than WebP. Your files remain on your device.

PNG stores the decoded pixels without any additional lossy compression.

PNG is preset as the output format and does not need a quality slider.

LokalPix decodes the WebP in your browser and stores the visible image losslessly as PNG.
WebP can store image data with lossy (VP8) or lossless (VP8L) compression. Its container also supports transparency and animation.
PNG stores every pixel value without additional compression and fully preserves transparency through an alpha channel.
If the WebP was animated, only a single still frame is produced. Earlier lossy VP8 compression is not reversed by PNG.
Strengths and limitations of both formats.
WebP uses a RIFF container. Lossy images use a VP8 bitstream with spatial prediction and entropy coding. Lossless WebP data uses the separate VP8L method with palette transforms, back-references, and Huffman codes.
PNG is supported almost everywhere — in image editors, document workflows, and legacy software. It preserves transparency losslessly, which matters for graphics, logos, and overlays.
PNG can carry transparency correctly when the WebP source contains an alpha channel. An animated WebP becomes a still frame because PNG does not support animation.
If the WebP source was lossy, those losses remain in the PNG. PNG cannot reconstruct earlier VP8 artefacts. Metadata (EXIF, XMP, ICC) are removed by default.
Answers about quality, privacy, and format limitations.
Yes. If the WebP has an alpha channel, it is transferred losslessly to the PNG. Check the result for logos and cut-out subjects.
PNG is lossless and is usually larger than WebP for photographs. A larger file does not automatically mean better quality.
Yes. PNG does not support animation. The result is a still frame of the first frame.
Yes. LokalPix does not intentionally change the pixel dimensions during this conversion.
Metadata are removed by default. WebP EXIF and ICC chunks are not transferred to the PNG file.
Yes. Up to 20 files can be processed in one batch and downloaded individually or together as a ZIP archive.
Conversion uses your browser's built-in functions. There is no image upload and no cloud storage.
