What happens when DNG becomes JPG?

DNG contains raw image data. LokalPix develops it with the bundled local RAW library, then encodes the visible result as JPG.

Apple ProRAW uses DNG

Apple stores ProRAW captures as .dng files. Many cameras and photography apps also use Digital Negative as a RAW container.

JPG

Compact and compatible

JPG opens in virtually every image editor, office document and web service. The selected quality affects file size and visible compression artefacts.

Not a full RAW development suite

LokalPix does not provide manual controls for white balance, exposure or lens profiles. A dedicated photo application remains better for controlled RAW development.

Does my DNG file really stay on my device?

Yes. LokalPix does not upload the image file. RAW decoding and JPG creation run locally using JavaScript, WebAssembly and browser features.

Is Apple ProRAW the same as DNG?

Apple ProRAW uses the industry-standard DNG file format and adds iPhone image processing. ProRAW files therefore use the .dng extension.

Why does the JPG look different from my photo app?

RAW files need development. Different RAW engines may interpret colour, contrast, sharpening and noise reduction differently.

Which JPG quality should I choose?

90 percent is a practical starting point. Lower it for smaller files or raise it when limiting compression loss matters more.

Can I convert several DNG files at once?

Yes. Process up to 20 files in one batch and download multiple results together as a ZIP.

Do all Apple ProRAW files work?

No. Some newer Apple ProRAW DNG files use JPEG XL compression, which the currently bundled local RAW decoder does not support. LokalPix shows a clear error for an unsupported file. Keep the original file.

What are the limits?

Each file may be up to 75 MB. Images above 40 megapixels or 16,384 pixels on either side are rejected to protect browser stability.
