HEIC is designed for efficient storage. JPG is older, but often has broader compatibility across devices, apps and upload forms.
Apple devices have used HEIF as the “High Efficiency” photo format since iOS 11. It can use less storage than JPG at comparable visual quality.
JPG is useful when a website, Windows app or older device will not accept HEIC. Conversion creates a new file with lossy compression.
Browser output does not reliably preserve all EXIF metadata, depth information, image variants or the source file's full HDR range. Keep your original.

HEIF is the container format; HEIC is a common file extension for HEVC-coded images stored in it. In everyday use, both terms often refer to iPhone photos.
With the camera set to “High Efficiency”, iPhone stores photos as HEIF. It saves space, but some older applications do not support it.
No. Your browser reads the file on your device and creates the JPG locally. LokalPix does not receive the image content.
Not reliably. Browser conversion focuses on visible pixels; EXIF and location metadata may be absent from the JPG. Keep the HEIC original.
JPG uses lossy compression. At high quality the visible difference is often small, but the conversion is not technically lossless.
