Convert JFIF images into JPG files directly in your browser. JFIF is a variant of the JPEG format — converting to JPG introduces no additional quality loss. Your files remain on your device.

JFIF is technically JPEG — no quality loss when renaming.

JPG is preset as the output format. Adjust quality if needed.

JFIF stands for JPEG File Interchange Format. It is not a separate image compression method but a standardised interchange container for JPEG data.
JFIF (JPEG File Interchange Format) defines how JPEG data is stored and exchanged in a file. The image compression itself is identical to JPG.
JPG is the most widely used file extension for JPEG images and is accepted by almost all software and upload forms.
Because JFIF contains JPEG data internally, converting to JPG introduces no new quality loss. LokalPix reads the JFIF and outputs it as JPG.
Technical background on the JFIF format.
JFIF (JPEG File Interchange Format) is a standard published in 1992 by C-Cube Microsystems. It specifies how JPEG data is stored as a standalone file so that it can be read across platforms.
Alongside JFIF, EXIF JPEG is the other common JPEG variant. EXIF files store camera metadata in an APP1 marker; JFIF files use an APP0 marker with metadata such as resolution and pixel aspect ratio.
The JPG file extension is more widely recognised in upload forms, email attachments, and older software than JFIF or PJPEG. Conversion therefore solves a compatibility problem without changing image quality.
Because JFIF and JPG share the same JPEG compression, conversion is technically a re-encode from the existing pixels. At a sufficiently high quality setting, visible quality is preserved.

Answers about quality, privacy, and format limitations.
No, if you choose a sufficiently high quality setting. JFIF is technically JPEG; converting to JPG adds no new lossy compression as long as you do not intentionally lower the quality.
JFIF stands for JPEG File Interchange Format. It is a standardised container for JPEG image data, not a separate image compression method.
Both contain JPEG-compressed image data. JFIF is the container standard name; JPG is the more common file extension. They are nearly identical in content.
Metadata are removed by default. JFIF APP0 markers are not transferred to the output file.
Yes. LokalPix does not intentionally change the pixel dimensions during this conversion.
Yes. Up to 20 files can be processed in one batch and downloaded individually or together as a ZIP archive.
Conversion uses your browser's built-in functions. There is no image upload and no cloud storage.
